# SumUp POS Custom Loyalty

> Connect a SumUp POS store, activate its gateway and verify loyalty at checkout.

This integration uses **SumUp POS Custom Loyalty**. It is not a generic connection
to every SumUp card reader or payment product. Access requires the POS Connect
entitlement and release availability for the business.

## Connect the store

1. Open **Integrations → SumUp POS (Custom Loyalty) → Connect**.
2. Enter the store subdomain, optional display name and intended Perkstar loyalty
   programme, then choose **Create gateway URL**.
3. In SumUp POS Backoffice, open **Apps → Loyalty → Custom Loyalty Settings**.
   Paste the exact merchant gateway URL, name the connection Perkstar, enable it
   and save.
4. Copy the **Verification Token** displayed by SumUp POS back into the Perkstar
   workspace, then choose **Activate SumUp POS**. The gateway stays locked until
   activation. Treat the token as a secret.

## Verify checkout

Use a controlled customer and scan their Wallet QR code. Check that the intended
programme and available rewards appear, then verify one completed sale against its
Perkstar transaction. Where product rewards are used, configure eligible product
SKUs and maximum product value before redemption. Do not assume a displayed reward
was settled until the completed-sale record confirms it.

## Recover safely

Retain the original sale reference when investigating retries. A repeated callback
must not grant the same reward twice. Check the store subdomain, programme mapping
and verification token before replacing a connection. Changing the programme can
affect future checkout eligibility and should be deliberate.

Disconnect through **Manage**, and remove or disable the corresponding Custom
Loyalty configuration in SumUp POS when retiring it. See the
