Use Perkstar loyalty data to build Mailchimp segments and automations, such as birthday offers, VIP rewards and reminders for customers who have not visited recently. You create the emails and automations in Mailchimp. This integration is in beta on Growth and Scale plans. Availability in your dashboard depends on deployment and your business’s access. Verify the first result in a dedicated test audience before relying on it for customer campaigns.

Connect your audience

  1. Sign in to the intended Perkstar business with permission to manage integrations.
  2. Open Integrations → Mailchimp → Connect.
  3. Create a dedicated Mailchimp API key and paste it into the connection form. Perkstar encrypts the key and does not display it after saving. Do not send it to support or paste it into a chat.
  4. Load your audiences and select the one that should receive loyalty customers.
  5. Review any automations already running for that audience, then enable sync. Adding or updating contacts can trigger those automations. Start with a dedicated test audience when verifying the connection.
Perkstar adds nine audience fields for its loyalty data. It leaves unrelated fields alone. If a Perkstar field already exists with an incompatible type, the setup screen explains which field needs attention. One Mailchimp account and one audience can be linked to each business. Contact support to change either after setup so existing unsubscribe history is preserved.

What syncs

Customers need a valid email address, current email-marketing consent and a loyalty enrollment. Customers without consent, deleted or anonymized customers and test pass addresses are excluded. Existing eligible customers sync in batches. Customer and enrollment changes are queued automatically; the background worker runs every minute. Sync now processes a batch immediately when the connection is ready, with any remainder continuing in the background. Card and tier configuration changes are reconciled daily. Large audiences or provider retries can take longer. Use these fields in Mailchimp to select customers and configure automations. Perkstar does not create campaigns or send a history of individual loyalty events through this connection. Phone numbers, addresses, notes and wallet links are not exported. Use a consenting test customer with a loyalty enrollment. Enable sync and compare their audience fields in Mailchimp with their Perkstar profile. Change their points balance and verify the next update. Confirm that a non-consenting test customer is absent. Connection success alone does not mean an email was delivered. An existing Mailchimp unsubscribe remains in effect when loyalty data changes. Perkstar never automatically resubscribes an existing member. New contacts follow the audience’s double opt-in setting; Mailchimp may send a confirmation email and keep them pending until they confirm. Withdrawing consent in Perkstar, anonymizing or deleting a linked customer queues an unsubscribe in Mailchimp. Changing email unsubscribes the former address before syncing the new one. Mailchimp opt-outs do not change the customer’s other Perkstar messaging preferences.

Recover, pause or disconnect

Open Manage to review the connected account, audience, sync counts and recent issues. Temporary failures retry automatically. Reconnect with an active API key if Mailchimp rejects the stored key. Resolve duplicate customer emails in Perkstar before retrying those customers. Pausing or disconnecting stops future sync calls, including consent withdrawals. It leaves existing Mailchimp contacts and automations in place, so manage those in Mailchimp as needed. A request already in progress may finish. Disconnect clears the key held by Perkstar; revoke the dedicated key separately in Mailchimp if it is no longer needed. Reconnect to the same account and audience to resume.
